Overview

Located in the heart of Sunnybank Hills, Causeway Bay Seafood Restaurant stands out as a beacon for lovers of authentic Cantonese and Hong Kong-style seafood cuisine. Nestled at shop 1/70 Pinelands Rd, this bustling eatery has quickly earned a devoted following, thanks to its fresh ingredients, vibrant flavors, and skillful preparation that captures the essence of traditional seafood down to every detail.

The restaurant’s specialties showcase a rich variety of coastal delicacies, with highlights like the braised live barramundi in hot chili sauce offering a fiery yet balanced experience that excites the palate. Equally impressive is the fried and baked baby abalone, a dish that exemplifies the kitchen’s finesse in elevating premium seafood through nuanced texture and seasoning. Steamed whole prawns with garlic and vermicelli, as well as the luxurious lobster with noodles, underline the restaurant’s dedication to timeless classics served with finesse.

Guests looking for warming comfort should not miss the steamed chicken with Chinese sausage or the deeply flavorful stew coral trout. The seafood platter hotpot, available by pre-order, provides an excellent option for group dining, combining freshness and variety in a social setting. Complementing the mains, the black truffle and pork minced fried rice provides a fragrant, earthy note, while stir-fried hofan with beef adds a satisfying, chewy texture that rounds out the meal.

Causeway Bay’s atmosphere lends itself well to both family gatherings and casual dining occasions. The space, though unpretentious, evokes the lively street food vibe of Asian hawker stalls with clean tables and a relaxed, inviting energy. Service consistently receives praise for its warmth and efficiency, managing to remain friendly and attentive without rushing guests. However, it’s wise to book ahead, especially on weekends, as the restaurant fills quickly with eager diners.

One characteristic diners should note is the primarily Chinese-language menu. This adds an authentic touch but may require some assistance, especially for newcomers, so the staff’s recommendations become invaluable. Many reviewers highlight the wok hei quality — the unmistakable breath of the wok that speaks to the chef’s experience and technique — found in dishes like the black pepper beef and soft shell crab with salt and pepper seasoning.

Overall, Causeway Bay Seafood Restaurant offers a memorable dining experience rooted in traditional Cantonese flavors, skillful seafood preparation, and a lively atmosphere that transports you straight to the vibrant food streets of Hong Kong. This venue is ideal for seafood enthusiasts and adventurous diners seeking a genuine taste of Asia, all within the welcoming embrace of Sunnybank Hills.

We came here on a Monday night and it was packed! You know the food will be hitting. Make sure you book when you come here. We ordered 4 mains and 1 fried rice. The black pepper dice steak has got to be the best stir fry steak I have ever had. It is succulent, juicy, tender, amazing stir fry taste. It goes very well with XO sauce seafood fried rice. You can’t really go wrong with their sweet and sour pork, it’s a great dish. We also got the salt and pepper squid, great combination too. The only thing we didn’t enjoy as much was the salted egg yolk chicken. There was a hiccup with our order, they forgot our salted egg yolk chicken and when we asked them to cancel it, they said it’s already gone down the wok It was very busy so that’s okay. The food portion is huge, great value for the money.

Super yummy, super fast and very friendly service, that's a definite 5-star for me. The dishes with photos are all yummy, the last dish with Chinese sausage which I don't have a photo is very very salty though, that's the only negative for me for the night, but the positives are enough to earn the 5-star from me.

I can see why there’s glowing reviews for this restaurant, it really deserves 5/5 stars. Every dish we ordered was cooked well and came out quickly. A lot of wok hei, which you can tell the chef is highly skilled. Price is fairly reasonable for the high quality seafood dishes we ordered, my favourite was soft shell crab with salt pepper. I’m not sure if there’s an English menu but the our menu was all in Chinese. The atmosphere was good and tables were clean, I would have preferred dining inside but eating outside reminded me of the hawker stalls you find in Asia. I’m going to call it now this restaurant is the best Cantonese/HK style restaurant in Brisbane. Will definitely be back to try other dishes.

Great seafood restaurant. Truly enjoyed their crabs, steamed fish, abalone and black pepper beef (so good that we ordered two!) Their specially dish is the coconut chicken soup. Not my personal favourite but everyone in my group loved it Reasonable prices but lack of English menu so preferable ask the waiter for recommendations and seafood availability of the day. Service was quick and attentive though can expect be a bit of a wait during peak dinner time. Highly recommended to book a table especially on the weekends.
